An exit light is a safety device equipped in structures to signify the nearest emergency exit. Because of its inbuilt battery backup, it is usually mounted above doors or along evacuation routes and is always on, even in the event of a power loss. In the event of an earthquake, fire, or other emergency, exit lights assist in directing people safely out of a building.
